Hello Reader, I just got back from an annual food blogger conference called Tastemaker. This line of work can be surprisingly lonely, so it's always really nice to spend time with people who share the same experience of working as a food creator online. Over the years, I’ve made real friendships in this space, and being able to see everyone in person, catch up, and talk shop once a year is something I really value. One of the highlights was getting to eat some really good vegan food while I was there. I went to Pura Vita in West Hollywood, grabbed ramen at Ramen Hood in Grand Central Market, and even found a full vegan menu at Fixins, a soul food restaurant, which was really tasty. Finding delicious vegan food is always a relief and a joy while traveling. It’s also now been about two and a half weeks since I injured my ankle, and I’m happy to say it’s feeling much better. Staying off of it those first few days really made a difference, and I’ve now graduated from the big clunky boot to a much more discreet ankle brace, which is a very welcome milestone. That said, as an introvert, being at a conference is still a lot. So today I did the exact opposite. I stayed home, slept a ton, wore a big comfy onesie, and recharged with Paul and Eddie. Sometimes the best part of going somewhere is coming home and getting quiet again. Sorry this email is a couple days late, but I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I'll include some photos below from the conference. You might recognize some of these smiling faces. :) Toni Popular recipes from the blogs:

Hello Reader, My friend Sarah Bond from the food blog Live Eat Learn invited a small group of food blogging friends to Austin, Texas to spend a few days talking business and the rapidly changing landscape of our industry. It was such a wonderful trip! I had never been to Austin before, and I absolutely loved it. The weather was 80 degrees, sunny and dry. Such a treat! The city had so many great vegan food options, and the relaxed culture really stood out to me and reminded me of where I live...
Hello Reader, It's been a nice week over here. My dad has always been my best friend. He likes to joke that we’re identical in “bizarro world,” which somehow means both opposite and the same. We share a lot of fundamental personality characteristics, but when it comes to how we spend our time and interests, we're completely different. He’s this masculine, veteran, football-loving, big-truck-driving, BBQ-ing guy, and yet, he has embraced me completely and supported me in everything I do. A...
Hello Reader, It’s a toasty 102°F here in Sacramento today (that’s about 39°C), and while that might sound intense, I actually kind of love it. It’s a hot start to our summer, but since I grew up here, I’m mostly unphased by the heat — so much so that I made a big pot of soup this afternoon. 😊 In garden news, two of our sunflowers just bloomed — including the red variety, which hasn’t made an appearance in a couple of years. If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember that this...
